As a Residential Building Surveyor, my expertise in carry out home reports like homebuyers surveys, building surveys and single defect surveys comes from my nearly 30 years of experience in the damp proofing, timber treatment and wall-tie replacement service sector. My background is in mechanical engineering, but I transitioned into the property industry when I was offered shares and a technical director role at Wallfast Ltd. This offer was due to my design of a three-finned stainless-steel profile used for remedial wall ties and structural repair systems. I still oversee manufacturing, ISO quality control and product information datasheets for this design.
I began assisting a colleague with his building company, which had branches in building contracting and specialised services for damp, timber and structural repairs. After a decade of conducting surveys and managing construction projects, I established my own company, Southern Preservation Ltd, twenty-five years ago. I furthered my surveying knowledge and qualifications, becoming a member of the Residential Property Surveyors Association (RPSA) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). This allowed me to conduct Homebuyers and full Building Surveys through my other company, My-surv.co.uk.
